The Director, Accountability, Evaluation & Impact leads all facets of shared accountability and support at the Rick Hansen Foundation (RHF) to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the impact of program operations.

This position also develops and implements performance measurement frameworks, monitors, evaluates and reports on performance and provides leadership on understanding, measuring and sharing RHF’s impact story.


Reporting to the VP, Strategic Initiatives, the Director, Accountability, Evaluation & Impact works closely and collaborates with the Executive Committee and Strategy team. This position will manage consultants and staff, as needed.

In addition, the Director, Accountability, Evaluation & Impact position works with managers and staff across the Foundation and external parties.


As an integral member of the RHF team and as expected of all staff, this position actively participates with:

  • Strategy

    • Contributes in regular sessions, develops goals, supports and implements action plans.


  • Responsible for leading a comprehensive impact framework at RHF. Includes;
    • developing and implementing accountability in alignment with strategy and operating plan;
    • assessing program performance and gaps, conducting needs assessments and implementing practical and shared solutions; and
    • analyzing impact to provide greater coherence and quality in the measuring, understanding and scaling of RHF’s impact story.
  • Collaborates with leadership to design, recommend, implement and review program performance measurements and monitoring systems;
  • Works with leadership and staff to build capacity for the shared accountability of evaluation and impact as part of the Foundation’s culture. Includes:
    • incorporating evaluation into project management;
    • developing methods, tools, and surveys to assess and capture RHF’s contribution to social change and tell its impact story;
    • developing and implementing policies and procedures to enhance knowledge; and
    • adopting methods that promote the values of the Foundation including collaboration, accountability, and IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility).
  • Leads multiple projects;
  • Reviews and leads Foundation’s reporting requirements and standards;
  • Consults and collaborates with staff. Provide advice, training and guidance in the integration of evaluation practices;
  • Prepares and monitors budget;
  • Reviews and simplifies analytical findings and complex data into clear information;
  • Performs other related duties in keeping with the purpose and accountabilities of the job.


Education: University degree, diploma or certificate in social science with a focus on program evaluation, qualitative and/or quantitative methods, and/or critical thought, intersectionality, diversity and inclusion.

Certification/Designation: Canadian Evaluation Society Credentialed Evaluator (CE) designation.



  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in Canada’s disability non-profit, research, academic, and health environment.
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • planning, administrative operations and leadership, developing and implementing accountability frameworks;
    • overseeing the design and delivery of program operations support services;
    • overseeing complex or concurrent programs and projects;
    • translating conceptual ideas and strategic objectives into operational requirements;
    • developing and implementing a performance measurement and evaluation program;
    • managing, training and mentoring staff and teams; and
    • managing budgets, grants, contracts and vendors.
  • Experience stewarding contribution agreements, government relations and reporting an asset;
  • Computer experience required; and
  • In-depth understanding of academic, health authority and governmental policies and procedures affecting program operational requirements.


  • Ability to translate conceptual ideas and strategic objectives into operational requirements;
  • Ability to lead within a complex non-profit environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to manage change and resolve conflict;
  • Ability to work and deliver within tight timeframes; and
  • Ability to mentor and train.
